The gateway of india is one of the most unique landmarks in the city of Mumbai. It is a monument that marks india’s chief ports and is a major tourist attractions for the visitors. According to the historical accounts, the main purpose behind the construction of this monument was to commemorate the visit of king George V and queen mary to Bombay. Also, the first main event at this monument was held on 28th February 1948 when the last set of british troops left india. Talking about the architecture this monument has the imprerssion of indo-saracenic style of architecture and was built yellow basalt and insoluble concrete. Interestingly, the elephant caves are located to this moument and visitors can take a boat ride to reach the elephata caves.
